For as long as I can remember, I’ve been competitive in everything, no matter what it is. Always chasing goals — on the footy field, on the bike, and now, across the Australian outback. This year, I’ve set my sights on one of the biggest yet: running a sub-3 hour marathon.
But here’s the catch…
I’m not training to a weekly routine home/work lifestyle or familiar training routes and friends. I’m living full-time in a van, travelling around Australia with my family and exploring our great country one new town at a time.
Living on the road means nothing is ever perfectly controlled, everything around me is unpredictable — the weather, the sleep, the roads, the routine.
But maybe that’s the point.
I’m sharing this to keep track of the journey — the training, the struggles, and the little wins and hold myself accountable, that come with chasing a sub-3 (without compromising family time & memories) while living out of a van. If you’re a runner, cyclists, road-tripping, or just trying to make it all work on the go, hopefully there’s something in here that makes you think, hey, even if you haven’t got the perfect environment you can still achieve the goal you’ve set out for yourself.
Let’s see what’s possible
The vans home and sub 3 is the goal.
